about the Michigan Lottery

Michigan Lottery was established on 13 November 1972 under the McCauley-Traxler-Law-Bowman-McNeely Lottery Act for the purpose of producing revenue for the state education fund. Michigan is run by GTech which is one of the leading gambling software and service providers.

Michigan strives to maximize net revenues to supplement state education programs, to provide fun and entertaining games of chance and to operate all games and bureau functions with nothing less than total integrity

The first weekly passive game, the 50-cent Green Game began on the 13 November 1972. Just on three years later the Michigan Lottery introduced its first instant tickets. In 1997 a computerized gaming system was added. Daily 3 was the first numbers game to be launched in June, followed by the second game, Daily 4 was added in October 1981. Michigan Lotto went on to make its debut in August of 1984 by setting a national record of $3.1 million or first-week sales.

Michigan Lottery was one of the founding members of Mega Millions, previously known as The Big Game in 1996. In 2003 Michigan Lottery introduced Club Keno and Pulltabs into bars and restaurants, and in less than five months Michigan Lottery shot to second position among the US lotteries in terms of weekly Keno sales per retail location.

Michigan Lottery proceeds have always been earmarked for education, and legislation began sending revenues to the state’s School Aid Fund in 1981.

Michigan Lottery Online Game Card

Are you thinking about trying out the Michigan Lottery but do not want to apply your personal banking information just yet? There is a solution that you could try.

The Online Game Card is another payment method that players can purchase at a Michigan Lottery retailer to add funds for their Michigan Lottery account. This method allows a simple way for players to add funds into their online accounts without having to enter their credit/debit or bank account information.

The Online Game Card can be purchased for gift giving or players that are interested in a quick way to fund their account. Below you will see the specifics of this payment method.

How to Use

The Michigan Lottery Online Game Card can be found at your local lottery retailer. This ticket is printed out just like a draw game ticket.

After you have paid for your Online Game Card, you will see a special code that is printed on the ticket. This code will allow you to move your funds over to your Michigan Lottery account.

Then you will simply have to submit your Online Game Card code on MichiganLottery.com. Once you have redeemed the value of the card, your account balance will be updated on your Michigan Lottery account.

Rules to Remember

Before you take off and buy multiple Online Game Cards, there are some rules to take note of, with the first one being a legal gambling age of 18. Another rule, for example, is this is a single-time use that is mainly an alternative to funding your account instead of a credit/debit card or an ACH Bank Transfer.

When you purchase your Online Game Card, it can only be redeemed at the Michigan Lottery website. These game cards cannot be reloaded with additional funds, reused again, replaced if lost or stolen, or exchanged for cash at all.

The code that is generated on the ticket will expire in five years after the date of your purchase. There is also a deposit limit of $500 per week, so players will need to keep that in mind for their budget.

If you happen to cash out your account, you will need to set up a payment method to deposit your funds. As mentioned above, you cannot add additional funds back to the ticket, so once you use the ticket to fund your account, then you simply discard the ticket.
